Welcome! I started out as a corporate suit by day and a crime fiction blogger – Crime Thriller Girl (hence the name of my original blog) by night. Now I’m a bestselling mystery and thriller writer, writing as Steph Broadribb and Stephanie Marland. I’m an avid reader of all things crime thriller and I love to connect with people who share the same passion for books.
I was born in Birmingham and grew up in Buckinghamshire. A prolific reader, I adored crime fiction from the moment I first read Sherlock Holmes as a child. I’ve worked in the UK and the US, have an MA in Creative Writing (Crime Fiction) from City University London, and trained as a Bounty Hunter in California.
My latest novel – DEATH IN THE SUNSHINE – is the first in my new The Retired Detectives Club series featuring four recent retirees living in a luxury over-55s resort community in Florida, USA. It’s published by Thomas & Mercer and launched in March 2022. The second book in the series – DEATH AT PARADISE PALMS – will be published on 11th October 2022, and the third book – watch this space for the title – is scheduled to launch in summer 2023.
My other novels include the Lori Anderson bounty hunter series and the Starke/Bell psychological police procedural books, writing as Stephanie Marland. My books have been shortlisted for the eDunnit eBook of the year award, the ITW Best First Novel award, the Dead Good Reader Awards for Fearless Female Character and Most Exceptional Debut, and longlisted for The Guardian ‘Not The Booker’ Prize.

Hi, CTG – you’ve got a fun blog. I’ll enjoy following. Thanks for finding mine, too, and for joining up. You’re an early adopter – always appreciated. Crime’s my particular bag, although I try not to be too biased – my mind is just naturally devious, I fear.
A corporate suit? Me too, in my former life. Am longing to know more, of course.

Thanks, and thank you for stopping by. From what you say it sounds like you’ve managed to get free from corporate life (my longer term goal). Looking forward to reading more on your blog 🙂

I was a business journalist, so on the edge looking in, rather than a full-blown suit. Hope you escape soon!

Thanks for the follow, Steph! With Harry Bingham’s consent, I am trying to resurrect MEAN STREETS with as many original reviewers as I can contact. As you have your own review blog, you won’t, I don’t think, have time to submit any new stuff, but hopefully you’ll allow me to upload any that you recommend from your own blog. This should give both sites more exposure, both for reviews and your own writing. Any suggestions will be most useful. It is not really off the ground, yet, but it is located at http://www.bookpostmortem.wordpress.com. Have a peek…

Just read your latest book and enjoyed it. Wondering whether Moira will share her secret in a future book and whether Phillip would tell Lizzie everything soon.
I decided that Moira’s 3 puppies must have strong bladders because I don’t remember that she took them out first thing in the morning. 😬 I say that as a dog owner.

Many thanks, Pat. Yes there’s more to come on Moira’s secret and Philip and Lizzie’s relationship in the next couple of books in the series. Good point about the dogs – I think Moira must have help letting them out when she can’t get home in time!

I love your new book, ” Death in the Sunshine”! I am a baby boomer (although I don’t feel or act as old as I am!), so I can relate to the characters.
Looking forward to your next book in the series!
